Soft Tissue Therapy / Myofascial Release
What is it?
STT or MRT is a form of manual therapy that focuses on treatment of the affected muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. STT/MRT helps to lengthen and stretch the affected tissue to allow for release of any adhesions or restrictions. The goal of this form of therapy is to help improve function by increasing range of motion, decreasing muscular hypertonicity, and reducing pain.
How is the Treatment Performed?
A thorough hands-on examination of the soft tissue structures will be performed in order to determine the areas of restriction, tenderness and tightness. A direct pressure and tension is applied to the area of stress during which a variety of patient movements are performed to increase the stretch and release any muscular or fascial tension.
Common Reasons for Soft Tissue Injuries:
- Repetitive use
- Postural strain
- Improperly functioning joints
- Muscular Imbalances
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndromes
